The Association announced that Guilherme Calheiros has been named as President for the period of 2020 – 2021, taking over from Sheila Oliveira Pires who was in that position in 2018 – 2019.

Calheiros is a specialist in planning and managing environments that promote innovation and in national science and technology policy. He has over 18 years of experience in project management and fundraising and has been teaching undergraduate and graduate courses for about 12 years. Apart from his role at Anprotec, Calheiros is a professor of postgraduate studies at the Catholic University of Pernambuco (UNICAP) and member of the Board of Directors of ABDI and SOFTEX Nacional. In parallel, Calheiros was a member of the Chamber of Innovation and the Fiscal Council of the Foundation for the Support of Science and Technology of the State of Pernambuco (FACEPE).

In an official press release the new board members outlined their aspirations for 2020 – 2021, striving towards a more modern Anprotec – an institution more attuned to the new market practices, the demands of the productive environment and the current demands of society.

Created in 1987, the National Association of Entities Promoting Innovative Enterprises (Associação Nacional de Entidades Promotoras de Empreendimentos Inovadores – Anprotec) brings together about 300 members, including business incubators, technology parks, accelerators, teaching and research institutions, public bodies and other entities related to entrepreneurship and innovation.
