The University of Arizona Technology Park has been selected by the US federal government to act as a “connector” in the American-Made Solar Prize competition with prize money of $3 million.
The competition comes as an initiative from the government to promote American renewable energy in the Chinese dominated market. Park Vice President Bruce Wright said “[we will be able to help with] everything from putting together the concept of the technology to proof of concept to doing prototyping and even first-generation manufacturing of the product.”
As many as 52 different companies can win prize money out of the $3 million pool with three different levels, determined by how close the product is to taking it to the market.
